Financial Advisor in Languedoc Region - Daphne Foulkes - A personal introduction

Your financial advisor in the Languedoc is Daphne Foulkes

Background

Along with the resources of The Spectrum IFA Group, one of Europe’s leading independent intermediaries, Daphne Foulkes brings over 30 years’ experience in the financial services industry.

Daphne began her career in financial services in 1975 at the Universities Superannuation Scheme, Liverpool - the city of her birth. Over the years, she has worked for a number of organisations, including an international benefits consultancy firm and also in the insurance industry. Eventually, she sought the challenges of Europe and lived and worked in Tenerife, and later Germany. Her final post before coming to France was with the European Central Bank in Frankfurt, where she was responsible for advising staff from all States of the European Union on the subject of retirement planning. Since 2008, she has been providing individual financial planning advice to clients in the Languedoc Roussillon and in the Midi-Pyrénées.

Her broad experience from her years of advising both individual and corporate clients demonstrates that she is able to address the unique financial planning needs of expatriates and those with cross-border interests. She has detailed knowledge of European Social Security rules, together with international product providers and tax-efficient structures that can assist in asset building, asset protection and, ultimately, retirement and estate planning, ensuring that her clients’ needs are met in a tax-efficient way.

As an independent adviser, Daphne provides her clients with the advantage of unbiased financial planning advice. She has access to many of the world’s most respected international banking, investment management and insurance institutions, which brings her clients the competitive advantages and convenience of being able to access multiple managers and product providers through one source.

Daphne lives in Bellegarde du Razès in the Aude. She is also a keen landscape photographer and was drawn to the special qualities of the light that one finds in the South West of France, when she and her partner, Anthony, explored France looking for a house. In addition to her financial services qualifications (see below), she also holds a first class honours degree in photography, from the University of Central Lancashire, and is an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society.

Fees
There are no consulting fees for providing you with advice or on-going service. The Spectrum IFA Group receives industry-standard fees directly from the financial institutions with whom they place their clients’ business - not directly from their clients.

Clients
Clients have varied needs, but typically either have disposable income they wish to invest regularly towards their medium to long-term goals, or have accrued capital they would like to invest for growth or to provide an income. The majority of clients are introduced to Daphne either by personal introduction (referral by existing clients), or by means of professional introduction (by financial institutions, employer Human Resources departments or by professional service providers such as accountants, lawyers, trust managers or relocation specialists). Additionally, client relationships are formed following enquiries made directly to Daphne, by e-mail and/or telephone.

Daphne works with clients of all ages, wealth and financial experience. She gets a huge amount of satisfaction from helping people to enjoy their life in France, as much as she does. She has found that her clients appreciate her honest and professional approach, particularly since she is able to empathise with them, as she has personally experienced many of the same issues as her clients. For Daphne, her work is very rewarding, as she finds solutions for each client, after getting to the core of their personal financial issues and problems. Naturally, every single case is different, which only adds to the challenge and enjoyment of her work.

Qualifications and professional Qualifications
In addition to holding the Chartered Institute of Insurers (CII) Financial Planning Certificate and Advanced Financial Planning Certificates in "Pensions" and "Taxation and Trusts", Daphne is also an Associate of the Pensions Management Institute (PMI).

The process
Daphne provides an initial confidential consultation to:
• Assist you in evaluating existing pension, protection (insurance) and savings/investment provision in a comprehensible manner.
• Identify and prioritise your financial objectives (short, medium and long-term).
• Identify how to reach those objectives, on the basis of resources that you can comfortably afford. She feels that it is important always to focus on present and future tax-efficiency, product portability, your attitude to investment risk and events that may threaten the financial wellbeing of you and your dependents.

She will then prepare a report recommending solutions matching your requirements and include any relevant product brochures, key features and illustrations of projected benefits/returns - to enable you to make an informed decision. Crucially, Spectrum advisers are not agents for any particular company- we represent our clients from an unbiased position of independence. We feel that this strongly sets us apart from dealing directly with large institutions, where you may experience less-personal service, a high turnover of staff and a bias to recommend their own products and services.

Our recommendations are made without obligation or charge. You are free to accept our advice wholly, partly or not at all. We are pleased also to negotiate and arrange access to holdings specifically of your choice.
